Another painting from my trip through Alagoas, Brazil from Maceio to Piacabucu. We stopped at this restaurant way off the beaten path for lunch. We had to drive across this narrow wooden bridge to get to it. It took forever for the food to cook, but that seemed to be the case for that region. Once it came it was delicious, though. While waiting this was the scene from the patio. This fisherman was casting his net outside in the lagoon, probably catching our lunch. I had never seen anybody cast a net like this and was fascinated. It reminded me of a non-specific scene from the Bible. Notice the blues and greens in the water, and the reddish tones for the sand bar where he is standing. I liked the red and blue walls in the background, but Brasil is brightly colored with music everywhere. When we left the restaurant we left a tip, but the waitress chased us down at the car to give it back. I explained it was customary where I come from and she reluctantly accepted it.
