Paul Berenson

I love flowers and have been painting them froom Day 1. One of those glorious January Santa Barbara days in 1976 I was walking down Milpas St., a bouquet was suddenly thrust under my nose, and I looked up, saw the face of an angel. Ann was selling flowers on a corner, came home with me and stayed 30 years. That was the first bouquet I painted and from then on no bouquet was safe from me. Vincent van Gogh said to learn painting, study a single blade of grass. That's what I did with flowers and it was a major influence in me learning how to color.
