One of the great conductors of the turn of the century 19/2000. His partnerships with San Francisco Opera, LA Opera and the Met have brought Russian opera to the forefront after it's neglect in the west for the last 100 or so years. He has turned the Kirov/Maryinsky into one of the great houses in the world. His Wagner and other western opera endeavors have established him as one of the leaders off the generation. |
