"Lynda's Roses"

Our friend Lynda was Ann's best friend and after Ann died she picked these two magnificent roses from our garden and gave them to me. I painted them in an unseen vase against this blue background. When I was young I had a habit of painting single roses. That's how van Gogh said to learn something, don't focus on a lawn, but "paint a single blade of grass" to learn it's relationship to you and the Universe. Ann and I were a pair, and these roses seemed appropriate. Notice the light blue hilites on the dark rose, and the violet hilites on the vermilion one.
