Every summer when we go to Ashland, we stop to camp and hike in the Redwoods. These trees are magnificent and magical. Few things are as serene as being in a grove of huge trees over a thousand years old. It's a very humbling experience. Our favorite place to camp in the Redwoods is Van Duzen Park. There's a lot of room between campsites, and some beautiful groves. It's also close to The Avenue of the Giants, which has great hiking trails. This picture is Ann and I hiking at Pamplin Grove, the best hike at Van Duzen. Man is dwarfed by these trees. |
