During the mid 1980's I fell completely in love with the operas of the German composer Richard Wagner. I listened to music from the time I woke up until I went to bed, and listened to nothing except Wagner for almost five years. During this time and the 1990's I saw and reviewed all but the earliest operas and painted many, including this series from Wagner's Ring. It was also a great inspiration for me considering the fact that Wagner composed his Ring at a time when he had not the slightest chance of it ever being performed on stage.
