"Albrich and the Rheinmaidens"
From Wagner's Ring, the Rheinmaidens playfully/mercilessly tease the dwarf Alberich who wants one of them to love him. After missing with all three, he gets his revenge, renouncing LOVE and steals the Rheingold from which he fashions the Ring of the Niebelung, which will rule the world, and begins one of the great mythological stories ever, to say nothing of Wagner's 14 hour four evening opera, which I regard as the greatest work of art ever. Wagner sets his opera in the Rhein River where the Rheinmaidens guard the gold from he who renounces LOVE forever and steals it. My painting is set in the Columbia River just west of Hood River, Oregon. The castle in the distance is roughly Crown Point Observatory on a bluff from where you can see The Dalles to the East and Portland to the West.
