"Mount Shasta From the Klamath River"

Mount Shasta dominates the entire Northern California landscape around I-5 from about 100 miles south of Redding to the Oregon border. This view is from near the Klamath River on Hiway 256 just southwest of Yreka. The variety of the landscape is constantly changing with many microclimates in the region and this view caught my eye. I like the undisturbed semi-desert with Mount Shasta about 50 miles in the distance in the middle of summer that almost reminds me of a scene from the Old West. Notice the strong blues in the shadows that kill each other at a distance or when the painting is shrunk down to a thumbnail online.
